Update from my Feb 2003 entry....

Since my retailer replaced my X6 back in 2003, I had trouble free usage till two weeks ago. My X6 has began its infamous self-resetting- my fear came true.

My X6 is now on its way to Suunto Finland office for its repair since I purchase the watch in Jan 2003 in Hong Kong. For a watch that cost over US$300 and from a brand that is associated with quality and reliability, its field reliability certainly does not meet my expectation. Furthermore, the repair may take approx two months.

Prior to this second problem, I had the intention to upgrade to their new X9 having found the features in the X6 useful, and to continue to recommend Suunto watches to my fellow adventure racers. However with such poor reliability record, I do not have confidence that Suunto watches would not fail at future critical situations/events. I do intend to continue to pursuit adventure racing events with the help of safe and reliable equipments, and it's a pity that I cannot rely on a Suunto.

I hope other Suunto owners will have much better experience.

PS: As a tip of X6 owners...If safety is one of your key concern, do bring backup devices to support your X6- Just in case.
