I just wanted to add to the discussion on
Observer elastomere
bands. I have had my watch about 2 years now, and last week noticed a whole bunch of cracks on the backside of the
band. Within a couple of days of noticing these, two of the cracks broke through. I am now holding the whole thing together with duct tape (ironically, the shiny silver tape goes fairly well with the
Observer body!). I am going to take the watch back to my retailer and see if the
band can be swapped. It's a shame that Suuntowatches.com doesn't ship internationally as replacing the
band here in Switzerland will cost much more.
From the number of comments I see here on the
band, it looks like there are some serious problems with the elastomere
band. Maybe
Suunto should consider a recall?
Another question: has anyone actually done the
band replacement themselves, or do you really recommend having a professional do it?
