I can't believe this. The Techrtrail models (e.g. the Axis) are as compact as the 6 series but they have a decent alarm volume (not really loud, but much more so than the Suunto's), and the La Crosse Technology XG-55 is almost as compact and has a really loud alarm. Unfortunately none of these models have the amazing capabilities of the Suunto X6 and T6.

The new models (such as the 6 series) are louder.
They are still very faint for me, I can hardly hear it unless I hold the watch one foot away from my ear. This faint alarm volume is made even worse by being a very high pitched sound, as hearing losses most often affect the ability to hear high frequencies. I don't understand Suunto doesn't care more about its customers who no longer have young ears, or the young ones who suffer hearing losses due to the abuse of pop concerts and high volume earphones.
This has been a frequent complaint for years (try a Google search on "Suunto "alarm volume"", you'll find more than 600 pages!) but even on the very recent and expensive X9 they didn't improve it.

But stay tuned - new models will launch shortly.
I do hope this is true. If a modified version of the X6 comes out, with a really loud alarm, I'll buy one immediately.
