Namaste,
I purchased one of the orginal
suunto watches, black with a yellow overlay. The benzel had the four cardinal points NEWS and about every 10 degrees there is a tick mark. It was not the watch used for sailing, but had the time, temp, electronic
compass or altitude alarms. Five time alarms, which was the reason I purched the the watch , but the alarm frequency was not one that my hearing could hear. So basically worthless for my primary use. Now the I have acquired the lanyard and battery cover and battery. I am seeking an instruction manual to be able to set the various functions. Also the word
suunto was written in red, there is a little spot of that left on the watch. There are faint written words above the four buttons, Does anyone able to id the watch whic was purchased 10 to 12 or 13 years ago. I want to use it but have no instructions as how to proceed

Could any
suunto employee ( orginally I had to call finland to get info) or forumn reader be able to provide any help as how to proceed. I will say that after being dead for 2 or 3 years it did start right as soon as I got the battery and cover in place.
Many thanks in advance, gregor

 | Compass | | Compasses are sensitive, absolutely crucial instruments to precision navigation. The earth's magnetic field, inclination, and your longitude and latitude all influence the horizontal plane of a compass needle. As a result, compasses are balanced for different geographical zones. Suunto Compasses overcome this limitation to traditional compasses by using a simple 'Two Zone System'. With a Suunto Compass, the only 'balancing zones' are the northern and southern hemispheres. In addition to this innovation, certain Suunto Compasses come equipped with useful features like luminous needles and marks, centimeter/inch scales, magnifying glasses, clinometers, sighting notches, and more. | | |
