I've used both and recommend the
suunto. The fitness testing function is...useful, but you can gain and use much more information form the
suunto, especially for the long run (no pun intended). Plus, you're not losing anything with the
suunto since there are a number of parameters in which you can perform a similar (fitness) test with the provided software.
re the hr transmitter
strap: the original
strap I rec'd with the
t6 was bad. Kind of stiff so you didn't get a good contact and it had grooves which didn't help with gels or sweat. I ordered a new one and now that I've figured out how to "pair" it to the watch it's worked flawlessly. I assume that a new watch purchase now comes with the improved
strap. My wife also uses the same transmitter
strap both with a jog bra when she cycles and with polars integrated jog bra (the one that you can thread the
strap in) when running and it works great.
Bottom line: Once dialed in to my personal parameters I've enjoyed the
suunto's recordings and feedback much more than polars.
go train.
