N3 concerns

I just received and N3 which I had to import !!
to Canada $$$

I have a few concerns,
1)
The watch seems to charge but I really can not see an indication that it is charging when attached to the Clip Battery Charger.

Some times I plug the charger in the Watch flashes charging for a second but most of the time I can not tell if it is doing anything.

If I plug the USB cable into my laptop as an alternative. XP detects the Watch but I still see no charging indication.

All this may not be an issue I go into the settings and the watch does say the battery is at 100 %

What is better plugging the watch into a computer or into the transformer for charging?

2)
I am not sure how this charger just being a clip on one side USB connector plugged into a transformer on the other side will hold up over time.

Would I be able to buy just the charger if I ever have problems with it ?

3)
Related to 2) the clip pins insert into four holes into the back of the watch. These are really not sealed and I am concerned about the possible issue of a contact problem over time.

4)
There are no real Windows XP drivers.
Is there Windows XP approved drivers.

All the CD has is device drivers.

I can not find a program should there be one?

Howdy!

I'm not an expert, but I'll do my best to answer your questions and then give you the number to the real experts if you want to dig deeper.

Regarding charging issues: it seems that the lack of a charging indicator is a somewhat common issue. However, as you have noted, even when the watch does not tell you it is charging or fully charged, it nonetheless seems to get fully charged within normal timeframes. I have had some issues with this, but since it seems to charge fine, I've decided to ignore it.

Right now, there is not a separate charger available, but it is likely that one will be made available at some future point.

I'm not sure what you mean about the pins not being sealed? The watch is water resistant to 330 feet, so they've got to be pretty sealed!

While there are no official XP drivers, it has been universally reported that the USB charger option works fine on XP.

The CD mainly exists for the drivers: there are no programs on it. It should also has the instruction manual, quick start guide, and a product demo video.

Hope this helps; if you need more, try Suunto's tech department, at (800) 543-9124 ext 1, or perhaps email SuuntoUSA at info@suuntousa.com.

Thanks for the Reply.

When I check my watch this morning it said the Battery Capacity was at 87%.

I had the watch attached to the Clip all night but I am not panicing yet. The clip may not of been correctly seated.

I attached the watch to charger again this morning.

From your reply if I go home tonight and my watch does not
have a full charge. I will attach it to the USB port of my laptop and check the charging from the laptop.

Here is the reason for my contact concern the watch is worn on your skin hot day your wrist will sweat dirt and oil over time may build up in the contact holes.

But I will take in on faith that Suunco knows this and there will be no issue.

By the way I did find the n3 forum. Guess I should of posted on that forum first.

Swaping Out an N3 Battery, HOW?

I think its time for a battery change. Its been 2yrs.

The teeth of the charger are mating perfectely my watch, but no signal is going through. Hence, no charge-- nada.

I used an instrument to measure the current from charger. There is voltage going throw, but it stops at my N3.

The battery looks like an amateur bomb, one hot and the other cold.

QUESTION
where can i find a replacement.

BTW
I searched and searched. Even the local specialists told me to leave their store immediately.

The sweet price of being an innovator, huh.

God bless
thanks
