thanks for the feedback on this one. i'm having the same problem too but cannot find the drop down menu you're talking about. the SAM software does not seem to have any drop-down menu options and no menus work when i have the watch connected.
why doesn't
Suunto make a USB connector instead of the serial port connector? i cannot find a single computer under my roof with a serial port!

I have been successful in connecting my watch by going into the drop down menu and connecting it manually...usually you only have to do it this way the first time, but I find that its search works better from the drop down menu.
