deedubya,

Thanks for your reply. Having all of the parameters set correctly in both FB and training manager, the Kcal values between the watch and softwares are consistently off by about 50%. Yes, the EPOC and TE do sometimes differ, however, the differences I usually see are between FB and training manager. Comparing the EPOC and TE of the watch with training manager, they are usually identical (i.e. TE of 4.1 vs 4.2). As previously mentioned, I always check the % error in FB to see how the heart was recorded. I normally get an error percentage < 3%.

As for comparing two different logs. I made sure I was looking at the same log file, so that can be ruled out. I even went a step further and exchanged the watch for a new one. The new watch that I used yesterday gave 545 Kcal vs. 249 Kcal on both FB and training manager. % error was 2%.

In regards to software, I am using the latest version provided on Suunto's website.

This large variation I am seeing is not right. If this is expected, then I see no point why Suunto should have included it as a display option on the watch.

New watch and same problem to me indicates an algorithm problem in real-time Kcal calculations in the watch.

I spoke to Suunto and they even said the percentage error I am getting is too large.

Still trying to determine if I am missing something in all this Kcal business.
