S6 Battery Replacement problems

My battery finally died on my S6. I followed the replacement directions and turned the cover to the open position. However, the cover does not want to open. I moved the cover back and forth from the closed position to the open position to try to free it up, but no luck. Is there a trick to getting the battery out? Does anybody know how to pop the cover off?
Thanks

Yes it is a problem on the X6HR as well. I have found that if I use a nickel in the slot it works best. If you keep on turning counterclockwise with some force that usually makes the cover pop off. In those rare cases when this has not worked, I have used a fresh razor blade to help pry a little. In any case you should replace the gasket and the cover with a fresh one, you can usually get a kit from REI for under $10.

Thank you. I will try that. I used a quarter and distorted the slot and still couldn't get it to pop off. If your first solution doesn't work, I'll go for the razor blade.
