I have asked the Suunto support about this and that's what these helpful people told me:

The technology is totally the same in the Bike POD and Road Bike POD and the only differences are in the form and the way of attachment. The Bike POD is to be installed onto the right folk whereas the Road Bike POD is to be fitted to the hub.

Now I wonder: what are the implications of this and which is better in which case?
