TOPO! and the Suunto X9i

Your Suunto X9i gives you the ability to access the world wide GPS satellite system. At any time the X9i will give you an exact coordinate of where you are. For example: 40°34’28”N 115°23’58”W. What do you do now? You know the exact coordinate but where is that? A map printed from National Geographic’s TOPO! is your key to decipher this code. TOPO! “Grid Wizard” prints every map with a grid that makes it easy to read latitude and longitude or UTM. TOPO! also makes it easy to program your X9i with the GPS waypoints (a single location measured by a geographic coordinate) and routes. For example:

If you wanted to mark every trail junction with a GPS waypoint simply us the waypoint tool in TOPO! and quickly place your markers then upload them to the X9i.
If you wanted to place a waypoint every mile of a route use the GPS route wizard and the upload to your X9i.
If you atned to search for every lake or pond within a certain radius, say 5 miles, use the search tool and upload to the X9i.
