X9 Firmware & battery

Does anyone here know how to check if there is a firmware update for this watch, if there is one?
Secondly, how long does the battery last on the unit? Mine's about to "Die" soon as the charger keeps showing its charging even after 12 hours, and I get a half bar reading on the dial afterwards.

There is no way for a customer to check if the watch is updated or not.
You can play it safe with the serial numbers.. Anything in the 2006
models are usually updated.

It sounds like it's a battery problem and not a firmware problem though.
If the battery is dying that fast, or never reaching a full charge
that's something they need to send in for repair.

Just found out from the factory, that its because of the charger.

Aparently the model that I have, has a charger recall and they have kindly replaced me with one. I have not picked it up yet, but according to the techinician, when he used the new charger, I am getting a full charge now. AFTER 1 and a half years!

Unhappy I have a similar problem. Is it the same one?

I've just purchased an X9i, new, from the USA. It takes over 12 hours to charge the watch from the wall power socket, on the basis that the top bar of the battery indicator ceases blinking. It doesn't charge fully after 12 hours when I try to charge it via the computer's USB connection. Once charged from the wall, immediately on unplugging the watch from the charger cable, the battery bar shows a full charge. Within a few minutes the bar falls two small bars. I haven't had the watch long enough to know how long the watch will last in this state without using the GPS function. However, I do know that the indicator drops to the bottom re-charge area within 36 HOURS if I use the GPS function for about 10minutes shortly after taking it off the charger. This is not good. The watch doesn't function in a way that is useful. What is happening? What should I do? I live in Australia and there are no service centres in Australia so I guess this new watch (which is only 1 week old and very expensive), may need to be sent overseas to be fixed - assuming the warranty will be honoured. Is this as good as it gets? Is there an easy solution?

X9i problem

Hi there,

It does look like you have a battery problem, either the connection is off or a bad battery. You can either take it back to the store that you purchased from in Australis, or call Suunto Finland for warranty.

Hope this helps,

Janice
