Reverse LCD and GPS

Hi guys, I'm really considering to buy a X9i Tan but I've read some reports telling that the GPS never works and the reverse LCD is not recommend for sunny days (difficult to read). As my main use will be with my paraglider, questions are, the GPS really works? And the reverse LCD, can I read it in brigth environments?
thanks a lot,
Alex

X9i Tan

Hi Alex,

We have had users who do think that the reverse LCD is harder to read in the brighter sunlight. As for the GPS, we have tons of military personnel who purchase this wrist-top strictly for the GPS unit, so I have not heard that before. Hope this helps!

Hi Alex,

I have a X9Mi and it works in the sun of Afghanistan! You have to look carefully but it works. My GPS has never failed, once it was initiated, it locks on quite quickly too.

GPS are a great aid for paragliding sure you have to take into account the possibility that it would stop working due to some reason but most of my friends that are into paragliding use GPS that are suitable for the purpose and it working see here a post in the skydiving community

Reverse GPS and LCD

The reverse LCD works fine. In Fact I prefer my suuntos with a reverse GPS over those with a traditional LCD.

As for the GPS, I think that it takes a few seconds to lock on, and sometimes it does nopt lock on while you are moving, but if you are standing and trying to get your bearings and a position, I find that it works fine.. Also Imight add that if you have a position lock and start moving, it also works fine... you just gotta take a second to slow down and get a position before you start.
