Question PC software for X9?

Hi! Does anyone know whether the PC software that comes with the X9 is any good? Will a tech dummy learn how to use it? Is there support available?

No - it's absolutely dreadful. You have to scan your own maps in to it, and then calibrate them - which in y experience doesn't work. You then contact Suunto who give you lots of advice about the X9 rather than the software.

My X9 is virtually useless with this software.

Well, that's one opinion, but I disagree with that.

You can save any mapping software such as National Geographic CD software, as a picture file (JPEG, TIFF, etc.) as an alternative to scanning a map. You still have to calibrate the map by placing long/lat in two places on the map.

Hope that helps.
Anyone else out there that's used it with some feedback?

Wink

I am no PC Guru. But I was able to scan in National Geo Maps as well. The Software does have a HELP option that contains a host of information about the functionality of the Software. This is where I found the map scanning thingy.

Another cool feature is that you can update your watch settings using the Software.

Well you guys may find the software ok, but the version have has a bug that puts a comma instead of a point in the calibration co-ordinates - so it's impossible to calibrate a map. I had to point this out to them - poor service, poor testing, poor software.

The other thing I can't make it do is move the map I've imported to where the track is on the grid - and unless you can get them in the same place they're not a lot of use, are they?

Well ive just spent £60 on serial to USB adaptor from Suunto. Does it work ... no!! Suunto are helpful, but their knowledge is basic. So, Im stuck with my X9 with no way of downloading/uploading info, which IMHO is useless. When will Suunto realise that with all that collected data, the S/W is nearly as important than the wrist unit. Never had these problems with Polar!!

Can anyone here help??
