i just purchased an observer (ss body and elastomer band) and love the features, looks, apparent quality, etc. however, after discovering this forum and suunto web sites, i'm wondering if a different suunto watch might be a better fit.

i kayak (salt water) and swim a lot, and would never use the altimeter on the observer. would there be a watch that is waterproof, without the altimeter, yet still tough? durability & function are more important than looks.

your opinions and knowledge of suunto products will be appreciated.
