This is a discussion on Navitec within the Classic Altimeter / Compass forums; I'm wondering why the Suunto Navitec was discontinued and why. I'd also appreciate any information you can give me on ...

| They were discontinued back in 2002 I believe, we were the last to have them here in the U.S. The main reason they were discontinued was the lack in popularity. As a big watch without all the functions of say the Vector, they were not received well except by some swimmers and tri-athletes. They did have the chrono feature that is now in the Observer, that many people training like. You'd be hard pressed to find one in a store, and it's probably got a lot of dust on it if you did find it. Hope that helps.

| I've owned my Navitec for years It's a good watch. I use it for Jogging and other simple outdoor activities. The large display is what makes it readable while I am in motion jogging, which is a key advantage when using the clock/chrono. The only downside is the bezel fell off (unknown to me) and it's now a bit ugly. But then again the compass did not seem to work so well in the first place. ;-) Great chrono/timer/clock with a big readout and good backlight. Ideally suited to reading time at a glance while in motion. You may be able to find one here: http://watchzworld.com/suunto_51_nav...ter_watch.html Last edited by coreunx; 09-16-2006 at 03:04 PM.
