Can logbook be paused during altimeter measurements?

I have a metron. Is there any way to pause the logbook while measuring vertical feet? If I am Heli skiing for a week, I would like to avoid having to start a new log book for every descent (if I leave the log book on I will get a tremendous error from the ascent and descent of the helicopter). My old avocet allowed me to suspend and resume measurement between helicopter rides. If I cannot suspend the log book measurement is there any other way to accurately measure vertical feet of descent per day and also keep a lifetime measurement?

Basically you turn the logbook on & off. This can be done an infinite amount. It will only show the last 99 logs. If you want a lifetime history, he should never clear his logbook history.
