Suunto Core and Lumi Suunto recently announced - and will start shipping – two new lines on September 1st, 2007: Suunto Core is a new watch line geared toward men; they sport the altimeter, barometer and compass capabilities as well as some unique features such as a storm alarm, etc. Suunto Lumi is the first line of watches from Suunto specifically designed for women. Sharing the same capabilities of the Core line, the Lumi watches sport clean design and amazing looks. Speaking of design, both the Core and Lumi watches feature looks that – while still unmistakably Suunto – are a fairly dramatic departure for the brand. Both lines are truly appropriate in any setting, making them extremely versatile to the user. Both lines will also have dedicated accessories. Nine different Suunto Core ‘accessory straps’ will be available, and the Lumi will offer ‘accessory packs,’ which include two watch band designs and either a pendant attachment or molded carabiner jackets to allow for strapless use. The Core straps and Lumi accessory packs will allow users to further custom-tailor their Suuntos to their needs and tastes. Meanwhile, we're also offering Suunto's limited-edition Black Collection for this year, which includes special all-black, ion-plated versions of the Suunto Observer, Observer ST (we are one of VERY few retailers to offer the ST) and X6M - all of which offer the Suunto ABCs (altimeter, barometer, compass) as well as other functions. So, there's some new stuff for ya with the capabilities you're looking for. ![]() -Brent Site Manager, SuuntoWatches.com Last edited by Brent; 07-24-2007 at 03:51 PM.

Is the new Lumi really girly? I actually prefer the face/design to most of the suunto range. I have fairly small wrists and have had an observer for 7 years which looks fine on me. I'm looking to change soon - would the Lumi look out of place on a guy? Do you have any of the dimensions? Cheers Steve.

Hi Steve - To be totally honest, I absolutely love the body of the Lumi. The majority of the bands, however, are decidedly feminine. But, though I haven't seen it in person yet, the black band that comes with the Florette / Plain Lumi Accessory Pack appears to be a simple, black band (albeit with a green underside) void of the patterns and designs found on the rest of the Lumi bands. If this winds up being the case, I may have to spring for a Lumi myself! I don not have dimensions, sorry. I had however seen the prototypes, and the size is definitely smaller than a 'traditional' Suunto. Great-looking watch.Last edited by Brent; 08-07-2007 at 09:08 AM.

You're right - that's a good-lookin' watch! I have no info for a 'Military' Core, so I have a note into Suunto about it... It's possible it may be a UK-only or other limited market offering. To me, it appears to be the body of a Black-Orange Core with the Light Black strap (keeping the Orange-Black "pins," which are black). Will let you guys know what I hear! BTW tfzon, the Core actually uses the Observer / 6-Series battery. Honestly, I can't definitively say what this will mean for battery life, but I would expect it to be at least on par with other Suunto ABC watches. Of course, heavy use of the compass or altimeter will drain power more quickly.
