Black Collection Models

Any feedback on the durability of this finish on the Observer (Black Collection)? I know it claims to be more durable but I'm still sceptical about scatches etc. If it's not good I'll get the titanium. Thanks.

Hello anyone know anything? I'm going to buy a watch in very near future and would love to know if the limited edition black finish will be better and more durable then the stainless or titanium. Any help would really be appreciated.

Hi Bobcat - wish I could help you, but I have to refrain as I don't own one of the Black Collection watches, so can't speak with experience. Hopefully another Black Collection owner can chime in.

Thanks Brent. They are very sharp looking but my concern is their appearance after a year or two of regular use. If the black plating comes off or if easily get scratched through the watch will look bad. But they are so darn good looking, I may just bite the bullet.

I wish someone out there that has one can let me know what their experience is with the Observer Black. Even if they have only had one for a short time.

Bit the Bullet

Nobody has one?

I guess I'll have to be the brave one and take the chance. Just cant resist that all black, stealth look.

I called Suuntowatches and the CSR said that the all black should hold up better then anything else. That was the reason for this model. They were getting complaints about the wear on the SS and Titanium models. If it scratches deep through the plating I'll have to get creative (gun blue, etc).

Wish me luck...

So far so good

I had the black for about 6 weeks and its still looks real good. It's held up to quite a bit so far. As with most I feel the band is so so and it is showing wear on the buckle. But so far I'm happy.

I've had one on my wrist since they came out (maybe 6 months) (and by on my wrist, I mean it almost never comes off). The only scratches/wear is on the strap buckle, on one side - must be where my wrist rests on counters and such. The finish has lightened, but has not worn off. Everything else is jet black as the day I got it.
