Unhappy Suunto Warranty Performance

On Aug. 30 2004 My Mariner started cycling thru all its modes and sub modes. At the time this malfunction began, it had been sitting on a shelf for 2 months...the only way I was alerted to this problem was by the alarms sounding in all alarm modes though none of the alarms where set...even the compass was cycling thru 360 degrees and the barometer was also cycling thru all sub- modes even the trend indicator was cycling...this was quite a sight watching the watch using all its fonts at the same time...I talked with the Suunto warrenty people and was issued a RMA# for a return to the service center in CarlsBad CA...as the watch was only 15 months old...and had very little wrist time...the person at the repair center stated it sounded like a short in one of the circuits...I'll keep the forum posted as how the warrenty service center handles this defective watch.
Cheers

Smile Warranty work completed

I commend Suunto USA on the warranty service performed on my Mariner..
Turn-around time was 13 days.....what I received back from Suunto USA..is either a new factory fresh watch or an excellent reconditioned Mariner..either way the watch is not my original as the serial number on the watch is different...old # 3130xxxx... new # 9041xxxx... I do know the under and upper cases, bezel, strap, and crystal are new and the watch has an updated gasket under the bezel and crystal assembly...the main modes and sub-modes work find....Thank you Suunto USA for a job well done.
