| I took a look at the new X6 at a local store and frankly, I wasn't impressed. The overall look is the poorest Suunto design for their entire line. The ease of use is nice, but even the display is some what cheap looking. I tried out an Observer and a X6 on the stairs and the Observer was more reactive as an altimeter. I have been waiting for the X6 to come out, but now I am leaning toward the Observer. I wish the Observer had a HR model, but dosn't sound like it's going to happen? Any thoughts from anyone? Does anyone believe the X6 has an edge over the Observer? |

| The X6 has a clinometer and accumulative vertical and baromtetric data that can be downloaded to a PC via the serial port interaface. I believe the Observer is Suunto's best looking Wristop. The X6 dot matrix display is actually a higher resolution LCD than all previous Suunto models. The PC interface for the X6 & the soon to be released X6HR is pretty amazing. Bottom line: Do you want form (Observer) or function (X6 or X6HR)? I understand it's a tough choice to make. I personally believe you can't go wrong with either model. FYI, they both are comparably sized which is about 30% smaller than all previous Suunto Wristop models. AltimeterGuy |
