Mineral glass

I'm about to purchase the Ti Observer and am curious about the mineral glass. How is it different from other materials, benefits?
I tend to be pretty hard on the exterior of my watches. Thanks.

I have a year old Ti Observer and do not have a scratch on the mineral glass. It is also a little bit recessed so that the Ti bezel gets most of the impact during your active endeavors.
