Unhappy Observer Alarm Volume

I've just recently purchased an Observer, and whilst thrilled with most of its features, am really disappointed in the volume of the alarm - it isn't nearly as loud as other models I have seen. One of the features I was looking for was multiple alarms. Is this a known problem, or did I score a dud? Is there any way to adjust alarm volume?
Thanks

David,

To make the Observer smaller than prior models, Suunto had to use a smaller buzzer for the alarm. I take mine off of my wrist and put it on the night stand when I use the alarm to awaken.

Unhappy Observer Alarm

I have just purchased an observer and used it with great success whilst skiing. The only disappointment is the alarm - which frankly is a joke.

The alarm is so quiet it would not wake a mouse. I went back to the shop to hear another one just in case there was a fault with mine.

The tone is a bad one for me (male in 40's) being exactly where I have hearing loss which I am told in my pilots medicals is absolutely normal for a male of my age.

I take it there is no fix for this, but suggest you change the tone and increase the volume. Or cut the alarm out altogether and you will not dissappoint future customers.

The mind boggles as to how you can make use of the altitude alarm. You need totally silent conditions and the watch strapped to your ear!

Angry Same problem- Suunto's response

I agree with all the complaints on the alarm volume, mine is the same way. I'm somewhat releived that I am not alone with this problem. After several emails to Suunto, I finally received a response concerning this problem. They stated to me that the watch alarm should be heard effectivly when on your wrist. They instructed me that if mine was not performing in this fashion I should contact the service department. I have yet to do this, I will try working through my retailer.
