Observer - sea level pressure

Just bought an Obserser (Sr) and like it very much!

I got 2 questions:

While in the Barometer mode, I set the sea level pressure according to that on www.weather.com. Once set, it will remain unchanged even when the actual value has changed per www.weather.com. Is this normal and supposed to happen?

Is the barometer trend indicator based on sea level pressure or absolute pressure?

If you have the watch locked into "altimeter" mode, it will lock the barometric pressure and interpret any changes in pressure as a shift in altitude, rather than as shifting barometric pressure.

If you are not going to be needing to keep track of altitude, then switch the watch over into "barometer" mode, which locks the altitude you enter in place. It will then interpret changes in pressure as shifting barometric pressure rather than as changing altitude.

Here's the relevant excerpt from the manual:

The use indicator has to be in ALTI position, otherwise the altitude display is fixed.
When Altimeter Use is selected:
• The unit will be used as an altimeter.
• All pressure changes are interpreted as altitude changes.
• The sea level pressure reading displayed in the barometer mode will not change, even though the absolute pressure reading will change.

When Barometer Use is selected:
• The unit will be used as a weather station.
• The unit interprets all pressure changes as being due to a change in the weather.
• Measured changes will affect only the pressure reading displayed in the barometer mode.
Both sea level pressure and absolute pressure reading will change. These changes won’t
affect the altitude reading in the altimeter mode while barometer use is activated.

The Observer leaves the factory set to be used as an altimeter.

As for the question about absolute and sea level pressures: the Observer shows both, but the trend graph is based on changing absolute air pressures as detected by the watch's sensor.
