Unhappy X6HR erroneous heart rate readings

With the X6HR has anyone else gotten heart rate readings in the third line of the Chronograph and Hiking modes when the heart rate belt is not on? I am getting occasional dotted lines saying that the watch is trying to get a reading, it also at times will actually show a heart rate reading for a few seconds and then go back to the dotted lines. It will also from time to time show the heart icon blinking on the bottom of the Time display. Suunto USA says it's EMI. They exchanged one watch for me and the same problem continues to exist. I've had a Metron for 2 years and never had this problem. It's a little disconcerting because when the dotted lines show up for no apparent reason they don't go away for a while. In Chronograph mode you lose the time display because of it. Any ideas? HELP! By the way, this problem occurs anywhere, in front of my computer, in the car, in the middle of a field!

I've had the HR activate at work as well.

yes, I get this too, especially around electrical equipment.
I have found it a lot at traffic lights.

I am hoping it will be ok in the wilds!

Your Suunto watch is a sensitive to electromagnetic fields. I might also point out that humans are as well. And not for the better. You will find that there are lots of electronic devices that are sensitive to these electromagnetic fields. Suunto is aware of this, however there is only so much that can be done.
