| X6 PC connectivity crash Just picked up an X6 yesterday. The SAM (Suunto Activity Manager) software repeatedly crashes when I connect the watch. I removed SAM, then removed the Palm software that was sharing the serial port and reinstalled but it didn't make a difference. SAM still crashes. While I didn't buy the X6 for the PC connectivity, I am curious as to whether there is a way to get it to work. I did find the serial cable very difficult to plug into the PC, it is an odd plug that Suunto supplies. I haven't seen any PC o/s requirements for the software. The PC I am using runs Windows 2000. thanks - James |

| An update: I was able to fix the problem. First I downloaded the latest SAM s/w, which behaves much better when connectivity fails. It doesn't crash. Then I increased the data rate of the serial port to get it to support the connection. It all works fine now. I still think the serial port plug is too difficult to use, and I am concerned it will dmaage the pins on the laptop. thanks - James |
