Question x6hr question

I'm debating between getting the X6 or the X6hr. I go to the gym a lot and I noticed that the x6hr keeps track of your heart rate as well as altitude and this information is then transmitted to a PC. Will I be able to track my cardio workouts in a gym using the PC software. I would like to keep track of my progress. Is it possible to keep a workout diary using the pc software? Also, I swim a lot, can I use the transmitter in the water? And finally, the advertisement mentions that a extension strap comes with the wristop computer. What is that?

I will answer yes to all of your yes/no questions...... It will absolutely track your progress in a daily diary for gym and outdoor workouts. You will be able to select the parameters you would like to graph in your diary. I'm not sure what the extension strap is, but I'm guessing it's the elastic for the heart rate monitor belt. I'll see if I can find out.

Just wanted to add what Suunto has to say about the use of the Harte Rate monitor 'under' water:
Measuring heart rate under water is difficult of two reasons: - Highly chlorinated pool water and sea water can cause a short circuit in the electrodes, which makes detecting heart rate impossible. - In water activities the transmitter belt easily moves from its correct position. Even though Suunto Wristop Computers are watertight to a certain depth depending on the product, they are not intended to diving or other underwater operating.
