Heart Rate vs Time

As earlier discussed, a new X6HR

In the Hiking display with the heart rate Monitor short cut (third row) should show me the time if I"m now wearing my heart monitor. Sometimes it shows me the time but very briefly, then it moves to the " - - - " icon indicating that ??? what - I thought if it wasn't picking up a signal it should show up the time.

I'm in my office 100k away from my heart monitor, but right next to my computer...Could this be why it's showing this ??? or is there another reason?
