Compass question...

Hi Suunto experts,

I'm a new owner of the x6hr and have a question
about the compass...

Is the compass active all time? or can It be turned off?

The reason I ask is that I allways se an "active" symbol
on the left side of the display and I don't want the compass to end my batteries while not using it....

I've checked the manual but could not find any info about that.
