Question How to remove frozen battery cover?

It's interesting that a battery kit with new cover, battery and "o" ring is available. That points to a major weakness in the design: the battery cover is difficult to remove without destroying it!

The first time I replaced the battery, before kits were commonly available, the cover came off with a little careful nudging, slightly deforming the slot. The second time the cover is thoroughly frozen; a large coin just stripped the shallow slot. Now what?

It depends on how you look at it. Other watch manufacturers do not allow you to replace seals / O-rings. If you damaged your watch you can send it back to Suunto. First you will need to call 800 543 9124 and get a Ra #. Then send it in, they can fix your watch up. If not I wouldn’t even worry about the battery cover, just order a battery kit and replace it. If you can’t get it off, just call Suunto they will be able to take care of you.

They don't need to because jewerly stores will handle most watches. I've had several diving watches and always had the battery replaced for about $5. They won't touch the Suunto and neither will the sports store where it was purchased, so Suunto has to offer self-service kits. I just wish the cover were better designed so it doesn't self-destruct. The battery and "o"-ring (if needed) are easily obtained.

ok, you were talking about Diving watches, and that's different that what Kris was talking about, he was referring to the outdoor watches. I would talk to www.aqualung.com or www.suuntousa.com or www.suunto.com as they would be able to do more with your feedback.
