Battery life of Core

I e-mailed Suunto customer service and was told the battery life is 12-18 months. I wanted to find out what the experience is for people who bought the watch.

What is the first three digits of your serial number...

Some of the first units have had battery issues.. Just so you know the fist digit is the year and the next two are the week of manufacture.. some of the units with 7 as a first digit have had these issues.. also try to determine your software version...

To see the versions, you need to enter the 'service-menu' the same way you do, when you need to change the contrast:

1. Press and hold the upper left, lower left, upper right and lower right buttons until 'SUUNTO' appears on the display.
2. When the display is blank press the upper left button once - 'SUUNTO' will appear on the screen
3. While 'SUUNTO' is still displayed press and hold the upper left button

From here you should find a menu called versions or something like that, choose it, and it will display hardware and software versions.

I bought the Suunto very early and, yes, I have a 7---- serial number. (Bought about 15 months ago). Screen has just gone blank this morning, so I guess this must be a battery problem? Does the 7--- serial number mean I can get it changed? How do I do this?

I got my core for Christmas, my S/N starts with an 8 and I just had to replace the battery last week. I will admit to tinkering with the watch heavily when I first got it but I was still surprised that the battery died. Fortunately it was easily replaced, I guess I will just have to watch it. I do like that the watch has a battery indicator.

I've replaced the battery at least 6 times this year. Once it lasted a week and this time just a month.
