Question Suunto Core issues resolved? Are they..?...

Hello everyone,

I am considering buying a Core but..

I have been following forums, the reviews and their dates, writing down serial numbers of bad/good batches, contacting friends who have bought it, researching... Seems to me too many ppl got burned, so I think I'd be a fool if it happened to me after having read so many bad bad reviews.

Can someone knowledgeable PLEASE instruct me on the quality of the most recent Cores, the issues, the software, anything useful to make my decision about buying or not buying?

P.S. I have turned my attention to an X-Lander Mil. Ed. recently, having owned a Vector previously (and was EXTREMELY pleased with its performances). What about this match-up -> Core vs. X-Lander Military?

Help. Thanks!

No one? Not even a "I dunno.."??

Too bad, I am a month away from buying one of them, and really really need some help.

I can tell you that

despite the warnings I bought a core.
I've worn it now for 12 days without any problems.
My software/series is the 900 range.
I'm an avid hiker/backpacker and just returned from a 151 mile section on the AT; I so want this watch to not fail and be reliable...it is just that good.
There are reports of owners with no problems--is rolling the dice worth it to you? Only you can make that decision and good luck with it.

I bought one a couple of months ago. It's had no problems whatsoever and is very accurate. Mine is a recent production watch. Reports of problems seemed to me (when I researched it) to be found with 2008 and earlier watches.

i'm already studying yet another core

madness? maybe, but if this one can maintain for a year then I will.
I chose Light/Black and subbed out the lugged strap for the basic elastic.
The look of the watch does well in the hospital setting, the visibility of the Light/Black is wonderful, and the functionality of the watch as has been reported by many is stellar for someone who truly is active....for a hiker/backpacker the functions are spot on.
