No Seconds Display? Really?

I purchased a Elementum Terra a few weeks ago. I can't tell you how disappointed I am to learn that the watch will not display seconds with the time. Equally disappointing is that after the stopwatch rolls past 59:59, seconds are no longer displayed.

I just can not fathom the logic behind this design. You'd think that with the cost of the watch, not to mention all of the active/adventurer marketing, that something as simple and basic as a seconds display would be included.

I've had a couple of Observers over the years, which do display seconds. Why could the Terra not be programmed to display seconds in the same fashion? It would require no more display fields (or buttons) in the Terra than those that exist now.

Is there something that I'm missing? An upcoming soft/firmware upgrade perhaps? As it is, the watch is of such poor design, I'd return it for a refund if I could.
