Please help me set up my X9i I'm trying to set up my new X9i for use with US military maps and MGRS. I installed the Suunto program on my computer, and it is asking me to input the parameters I want to use: * Deg & DM datum * Grid * utm & MGRS datum * utc Offset The map that I am using has this info in it's legend: ELLIPSOID..................GEODETIC REFERENCE SYSTEM 1980 GRID.........................1,000 METER UTM ZONE 10 PROJECTION...............TRANSVERSE MERCATOR VERTICAL DATUM........SEA LEVEL 1929 HORIZONTAL DATUM....NORTH AMERICAN DATUM 1983 PRINTED BY ...............DMA 7-90 G-M ANGLE.................20 DEGREES Based on this info, what should I choose for the different parameters stated above? Thanks for your help! GS Last edited by GeneStoner; 01-10-2007 at 11:30 AM.

I contacted them, but I'm still not running correctly. Although I have followed the instructions explicitly (at least I think I have), I can NOT get a GPS fix with this thing! * I have turned on the GPS: Activity-- Log recording started-- GPS fix 1sec * I have set the watch outside for 1/2 hour by itself, unmoving, clear view to the sky. *After awhile, the alarm goes off and switches from "1sec" to "Manual." *Still no bars noted on the on the GPS signal quality meter. Before I can make sure my X9i is synched up properly with my map, I have to get a GPS fix...Any ideas?

Genestoner, Getting a GPS fix is not setting related as long as you or the watch itself didn't set the GPSfix to manual! If there are no solid or liquid/human objects obstructing its view the watch must at least see a few of the theoratical 12 satellites in visible/line of site orbit. You might try laying it on higher ground like on the roof of your car with the display pointed towards the sky. But if that doesn't result in a sat lock after max 12 minutes it looks like you have a faulty product. Suunto service is excellent though... Back to your original question: "Based on this info, what should I choose ..." After reading the factory manual properly do read this great guide as well. It will help you to familiarize yourself completely with the X9(i) and learn about all its possibilities... Suc6, Robert.
