Thumbs down Fragile watch band on X9i

Just wanted to check whether anyone else has had problems in relation to the watch band and retaining strap on the X9i. I queried the salesperson when I bought it, asking what happens if it breaks as the unit is integrated into the watch but he assured me that it was bombproof. Anyway it is not and now the retaining strap is broken and no watch repair outlet or Suunto sales rep has any advice for me. Any suggestions from anyone as i am sick of using celotape to hold it together.
Regards.

Hi, I recently had this problem as well, but had the watch for a year before any issues showed up.

send it into warranty, they should repair it within one week...

Unhappy X9i Band issues

I've had problems with mine, too. I got my X9 in September of 2006 and in April of 97 the retaining strap broke. I contacted someone and they sent me another. I noticed a couple of months later that the band itself had a lot of cracks on the inside. I contacted Suunto and learned that the only way to get the band fixed was to send it in, which is what I did. Today, the retaining strap broke again, so can the band be far behind?

Thumbs down Band Cracking and Breaking

It seams that this happens after the warrenty expires...does anyone know if they charge you to fix it. It seems like a defect. Mine broke after 18 months.

Hi All,

I have the X9M Aug07, the strap os broken and the part of the face plate "button" (which is the intergral part of the strap too) has fallen off.

Quite misleading and disappointing to say that it is a "military" instrument. Regret getting it now, cause there is no Service Centre here in Singapore, and I cannot purchase online from Suunto Site for the replacement strap, its only for EU countries only .

Any input from anyone would be helpful. Cheers.

Fragile Band on X9i and HELPDESK service

Hello

I too had a problem with the band after a couple of years of light use. First the 'enter' button cracked and fell off to reveal a silver button underneath and then the day after the strap retaining loop broke. Not living in an EU country I contacted the SUUNTO HelpDesk and help they did! Within 7 days of my request a new band had been sent from Finland and arrived at my home address in Darwin, Australia. GREAT SERVICE SUUNTO. Thank-you.

Me too, button cover, retaining band, face surround all fell off after 16 months

x9mi. Light use (mostly domestic, rarely in water) over about 16 months. Three weeks ago the rubber cap on the rhs button came off. Then two weeks ago, the strap retaining band (the bit that holds the loose part of the strap past the buckle) just split and fell off.

Now this morning, the whole ring around the face just fell off. The bit with the labels on it. I can see a gold thread, which I guess is the GPS antenna.

It's amazing that it all fell apart in such a short space of time. I don't use chemicals much, so i don't think the watch was exposed to some kind of solvent that broke down the glue. It seems to be disintegrating.

The watch is still working, but now I'm not sure if it's water resistant any more.

Unfortunately, I bought the watch through an ebay seller, so I believe I am not covered by suunto warranty. I wonder if it was part of a dud batch sold wholesale.

Anyway, I'm sort of glad the watch has fallen apart. I never liked the user interface. Now I can get myself a Sea Pathfinder!

Angry

Model X9Mi, wristband from a $500 watch is broken after a little bit more than 1 year, very bad quality!!!! I tryed to get a new one on Curacao, USA, Netherlands, Webshop. Curacao: don't have this model, Usa, don't ship outside the USA and don't have the model, Netherlands, don't have this model and don't ship outside the Netherlands, Webshop: EU only, locate dealer: Curacao - they don't have this model!! Servicedesk Suunto: shipping the item from here will cost me $75 and between $30 and $40 wen it comes back (douand/customs/taxes) shpiing back I guess also $75 (in total $210).
Case CAS-02300-P3CF0Z is closed, send me to the webshop. Not a solution for me.
CAS-02572-BRQ25G sends me to Venezuela, no help at all)
New Case CAS-02871-NCCH8P won't help I think
On this moment I'm very dissapointed in Suunto becaurse I'm trying to get a new wrist band for more than one month. I was so happy that "Ask a question" was open again, till now. I have on this moment a useless watch. I only can repeat my question: Is there any way for me to get a new wrist band for my Suunto X9Mi when I'm still living on the Netherlands Antilles.
Venezuela is not an option, no respons (I tryed also in the past)
Is it so difficult?

Can you as helpdesk forward this mail to the servicedesk and ask to send me a new wrist band.

If you can't help me just mail that and I can trow away a 1 year old $500 watch and go to a shop to buy a new watch (NOT SUUNTO)

A watch from this price and the strap breaks after 1 year, this is the very bad, on the internet I found a lot of people with the same problem. The quality from the straps from this model is not good!!!!!!!!!!
The best option for Suunto: replace all for a good quality strap!

My option:
Go to a shop and buy a new watch under $210
A lot of choice and it will last longer than 1 year.

This very bad service I didn't expect from a company as Suunto.
