Developing the Field Charger for X9, X9mi, X10 and X10mi

Hi,

Together with a pal, who happens to be an electronics nerd, I am putting together an ultralight field charger for the X9 & X10 Wristops.

Preliminary specs:
Input is from 5V to 35V DC by a 4xAA battery pack or directly from a 9V battery. Output is 5V DC through a female USB.
The circuitboard and components will be cast into a sturdy pu-elastomer. Approx. dimensions: 1"x1"x2". Estimated weight: 150grams

Field of application:
Hikers, climbers, Recon or similar on +2day trips without access to vehicles, mains or a pc for re-charging their X9/X10's, who will not spend daylight hours on charging their navigation device.

Any comments and/or suggestions are wellcome.

If you would be interested to be kept up to date on our exploits, please send me a message on "folkersenATpostkasse.com"

Cheers
The Fat Guy

solar charger option

FG,
You might want to consider the fairly lightweight (4.9 oz, ~160g) solar charger from PowerFilm | Home. I used their AA charger with USB port for recharging the Suunto X10 on a recent multiday hike. Also handy for other USB and AA devices in your backpack.
