| SUUNTO M9 Personal Sailing Instrument Suunto, a manufacturer of sports instruments, introduces the SUUNTO M9, a new generation sailing instrument, to mariners all around the world. This new product offers important sailing and navigation data in an easy-to-use, mobile instrument. It comes with unique tools for analysing your own sailing performance and opens doors to a sailing community where mariners world wide can share and acquire information with and from other SUUNTO M9 users. The SUUNTO M9 is the first product in Suunto’s new product line of Personal Sailing Instruments. It will be available world wide next spring. The SUUNTO M9 is currently being tested in the toughest and most demanding conditions by Grant Dalton, the skipper of Amer Sports One sailing team in the Volvo Ocean Race. Satisfaction While in Action The SUUNTO M9 adapts itself to each particular situation and provides relevant information while in action so that the user can concentrate more on his current performance and on making the right decisions. In a race situation, the unit gives you the advantage of a better start by delivering important starting sequence data such as line bias and other start line information. This leaves the user with more time to concentrate on boat handling while in the crowded starting area. After the start, the unit assists in choosing the right tactics for the individual legs and helps to make more use of the wind in order to optimise speed. While cruising, the unit delivers useful navigational information and helps to keep the boat on the correct course. The quick access to the MOB-feature allows quick reaction to a Man Over Board -rescue situation. Deeper Understanding The Suunto Sail Manager software links the SUUNTO M9 to a PC and makes navigation much easier by visualising the routes on marine charts. It offers innovative tools for analysing the data that the SUUNTO M9 has registered and stored while in action. The Sail Manager helps to discover what in the user’s performance needs to be improved, while also offering an exciting aspect of the sailed journey afterwards. Online Community SuuntoSports.com will open a new dimension for all SUUNTO M9 users in spring 2002. This www site is a forum where all mariners are able to meet each other and find the information they are looking for. The users are able to download information from their own Sail Manager in order to compare performance and tactics - or just share the experiences of an exciting journey with friends or even with the whole world. The dedicated Sailing Forum is accessible to all people to discover the world of sailing and navigation online. |
