Question barometer mode.

I own an observer Ti and love it. However I am confused about the barometer mode.
The present barometric pressure at my current location is 100.4 kPa.
My watch reading is 1004 hPa. Is this the same reading but without the decimal place?
What is the difference between kPa and hPa. My altitude seems to be correct at this setting.

Help!
Confused Canadian

I'm sure you are correct in your understanding about the decimal place. However, I'm a confused American when it comes to reading the barometer in Millibars. We are still stuck on the imperial standard in the states. I guess we are an old dog who doesn't like new tricks.

Lightbulb

"Pa" means Pascal (unit for pressure)
"h" = hecto = 100
"k" = kilo = 1000

So, if we assume that 1000 = 10 x 100 ;-)
Then, 100.4 kPa = 100,400 Pa = 1004 hPa.

btw, milibar is equivalent to hPa.

Regards.

Talking

Ankou, AG,
thank you very much for your reply. ( Merci infiniment de votre réponse). Your answer makes perfect sense as it is just a difference of metric measurement.
