Question observer quandry

i am contemplating an x-lander vs. an observer...the question i pose is understanding the difference in how the alt and baro work in these 2 models. the x-lander will give you continous readings re: baro and alti measurements as you scroll through the mode button...whilst the observer only gives readings "DEPENDING" on which setting the watch is in, baro or alti...ie, if you put the watch in the alti mode, the baro sea pressure is fixed. and if the watch is in the baro mode, the alti is fixed at whatever altitude it was when placed in the baro mode.. why does Suunto do this???? why does the x-lander not function this way, or why does the observer not function like the x-lander?? am i correct to assume that the observer, by functioning this way, gives "truer" more accurate baro and alti readings than watches that function like the x-lander???? please help!!!!

The Xlander was an earlier generation Wristop and did not have what you are calling the "fix" or I call the "lock" feature. Accuracy really isn't the issue. You can lock the Observer in "Barometer" mode so that weather changes will not affect your Altimeter reading when you are at the same elevation over a period of time.
