t6c road bike POD question

Hey everyone - I just got a t6c triathlon pack with the road bike POD. Unfortunately, my road bike has the Bontrager aero wheel set and the **** magnet does not fit on the aero spokes. I cut the little tabs and tried screwing it as tight as it would go to no avail. Anyone else experience this?

I ended up using one of my wife's hair elastic things and secured it on there by wrapping it around the spoke a few times. It seems to work for now but I'm concerned it won't stay on there once I start riding hard.

This is what I responded on another forum via PM. Maybe it will help someone here little later :-).

The magnet may be an issue on some wheels - you can check if Trek makes special magnets for their wheels. I have Mavic wheels so the magnet fits perfectly on the spokes I have (Mavic designed the road bike pod). I had similar issues with Polar speed sensor on Mavic wheels and had to order magnet for like 3 bucks.

As for pairing - read the pairing instructions. Most of the Suunto pods can be paired following way:

1. Open the battery hatch
2. Take out the battery
3. Turn it around and insert it upside down which resets the sensor and sets it to pairing mode
4. Put the watch to pairing mode
5. Insert the battery back to the pod the right way
6. Should pair in like 5 seconds

This works for all sensors but new foot pod. The new foot pod needs to be turned upside down to put it into pairing mode. Should work fine. I did this quite a few times and never had any issues.

Thanks for the PM and public post. I'll see if I can find a magnet that works with the Bontrager set, I'm sure they make them. I didn't realize you can use any magnet, that makes the problem much easier to resolve!
