I am preparing and starting a weight loss plan for which I have to know my BMR. I have a top of the line fat % weight scale which measures and calculates muscle mass, visceral fat, fat %, etc. It reads 2140 kcal BMR for me. I received my
Suunto t6c yesterday, programmed it and measured 1 hour in the morning lying in bed (65 avg HR). It said 200 kcal. Downloading into TrM it read 177 kcal. Well, 177 x 24 hours = 4250 kcal. This is much over the estimated BMR x 1.2 = 2570 kcal Resting Metabolic Rate. Well, the watch does not know that I am overfat (33 % fat) and setting an activity class of 7 may treat me as a rather muscular athlete (muscles being much more methabolically active). But then again this is way off. Any idea how can I resolve the problem and which instrument should I trust? I read in a posting that the kcal calculation is connected to MET. Can anyone please (maybe from
Suunto) provide me with a formula or how can I correct the too high kcal calculation? I have another HRM which calculated my exercise kcal consumption some 60% lower during exercise than the t6c!
Thanks in advance.
