t6 "old version" versus t6 "new version" ??

Does anybody know why the first pictures of the t6 on the net looked like the other new 2004 6-series watches (with metallic ring), whereas the latest t6-pictures (also the one on suuntowatches.com) look like the older 6-series models - 2003 and earlier (with rubber ring).

Does suunto go one step back in the design ?
Is the older design somehow better (more face protection?)?
Will there be two different versions (I doubt that)?
Or do the want to distinguish the "personal training" watch somehow from the other "cross sport" watches?

I start to like the new 2004 design better - it would be a pity if they changed back to the 2003-design.
(although there are more important problems out there in the world - I have to admit that )

greetings

Thanks to the good people at SuuntoOy, I now have an answer your your question, Lobi .... good eye!

And the answer is ...

-----

The heart rate transmission of Suunto t6 operates on 2.4 GHz frequency (could be described as ultra-low power Bluetooth). The metal ring attenuates the radio signal and can not be used in this application. The signal quality with the metal ring was not good enough for the high accuracy we need for the heart rate analysis, so we decided to use the design from the earlier 6-series models.

prompt answer

Thanks Gabriel for your prompt answer!

Interesting, that the t6 seems to work in the same frequency band as bluetooth - nice thing would be if the data transmission from the watch to the computer would work wireless via "real" bluetooth - but that´s maybe possible in the next generation of hrm´s.

Gabriel - when will the t6 finally be made official by suunto itself ?

greetings
