Cut polished t3 strap to fit

Hello,

I own a Suunto T3 with the negative display and black polished wrist band.
I fear that I cannot cut the band to fit my small wrists. Do I really have to buy an replacement strap? I like the look of the polished strap.

Do you have any othe ideas?
