Training manager hangs

Hi people,

Since a couple of weeks i'm owning a suunto t6 triathlon-pack. But I have some trouble with uploading my data from the watch to the TM.

I connect succesfully, but when i transfer a run to my maps, 8 out of 10 times he stops... My computer doesn't reacts anymore (no mouse, keyboard, off button....) so I have to shut him down by pressing the off button long.

I don't have this with my heartbelt, only the watch... anyone a suggestion?

System freeze!

Hi there,
I am experiencing the very same problem you described, which drove me nuts. I wrote to Suunto Support and this is what they replied back:

"Please remove then reinstall the software in the following manner :

If you have any logs in your database you should first make a backup copy of the 'Data' folder which is located in the 'C:\Program Files\Suunto Training Manager' folder to ensure that you do not lose any data.

1. Remove the Training Manager software, updates AND drivers by using the 'add/remove programs' feature of windows.
2. Delete the 'Suunto Training Manager' folder from 'C:\Program Files' then reboot your PC.
3. Visit the link below to install Training Manager 2.2.0 from the link below :
Suunto - Downloadable Software - Suunto Training Manager - Software

You can now replace the new 'Data' folder (located in the 'C:\Program Files\Suunto Training Manager' folder) with your original one to restore your training logs.

If this does not resolve the problem then please try changing the battery in your T6.

With Best Regards,
Suunto Helpdesk"

I am not convinced at all by the procedure as I did try that few times, on different laptops, and different systems (Vista, and XP), and didn't get any improvement.
I then suspected a fault in the USB cable, but mine seems just fine, and then eventually started to suspect the contact clip with the watch... Now I am tightening firmly with my fingers upon downloading, at the watch, and I've had only one freeze out of the last 5-6 downloads, while I used to have anywhere between 1-10 system freeze per download (reason I was badly losing it!).
Let me know if you get any success by holding firmly the USB clip to the watch... can't think of anything else now.

Good luck!
Paul

Training Manager Hangs

Hi

I am having the same problem. Contacted Suunto and received the same message. Have tried reinstalling a number of times but still hangs both on my pc and laptop. Will try the suggestion of holding the contact clip and let you know if I have any success.

This morning I tried to opload a run, 4 failures, i was so pissed so I didn't tried anymore. I just went out cycling so I now tried to upload those 2. Both in 1 time succesfull... pressed the contact clip but did that also this morning...

It maybe seems to help a bit indeed, but it still fails too much and it still pisses me off

I have a new method. If I drag the log to download it, as soon as it starts to download, i switch to an other programme. Usually I go to a website and I keep my actions as active as possible, so I scroll, click etc... I noticed that a couple of times this helps STM from hanging... maybe you could try it out too and post your experience...

Hi guys,
just saw all you problems descriptions and I’m fighting since more than 5 month with the exact same issue.
Well, Suunto never replied – even with several reminders…
To make my setup clear – I’m working with VISTA Ultimate – yep - but the reason is because I have a tablet pc.
However, I did find out that when I remove any USB device, in my case the mouse – it works fine. Well, I haven’t a freeze since I find out this. I’m totally clear that u can’t do this on a PC but if u using a laptop – it’s may worth 4 a try.
Personally I think it’s a driver issue – but this is only a guess. We will see when Suunto finally brings an software update…

Cheers and to all great workout

Einsiedler

Hi, thnx! I'm using a notebook too, and maybe it could be a solution indeed. I'll try it tomorrow.

This afternoon it failed twice the first time was at connection to it, and the second time with downloading the logs. After i almost smashed the watch on the floor I realised that it cost me a lot of money, so I smashed the usb-cable

Smile Mine works fine: My parameters

I have been using TM with my T6 and haven't had any problems with hanging. Here are my parameters in case anyone wants to check theirs. My TM also says "connecting" when I don't have any logs on the T6 to download. I can still view and edit the watches personal settings.

Good luck. . .

Similar issue

A friend locally who was in the electronics industry before opening a triathlete store has seem the same issue with many Suuntos, not just this version. He'd suggested I hold off to get one of the new 'c' lines.

I just got that and was curious if anyone had seen add'l software that works with the Suunto tracking software?
