GPS POD Updates?

I purchased the GPS POD when it first came out. I like the functionality but I don't like the time it takes to lock on to the satellites, especially if I'm traveling and it has to lock on in a different location. (it also eats batteries). There has been substantial progress in GPS chips in the past few years (look at the X10). Does anyone know if the chipset in the GPS POD has received any updates? I'd be willing to buy a new one just for the improved lock on.
